Friends Gala: Spies, Lies & Literature on February 6, 2016

We hope you will join us for our third annual gala featuring the new theme "Spies, Lies & Literature." Get ready to get your James Bond on as we celebrate the genre of spy thrillers!

should you choose to accept it, is to have fun while helping to raise $30,000 to add 1,500 new items to the lending collection of the Ramsey County libraries located in Maplewood, Mounds View, New Brighton, North St. Paul, Roseville, Shoreview and White Bear Lake. In 2000, the libraries’ collection budget was $1.3 million. For 2016, it is only $850,000 yet library patrons continue to request items in multiple formats including print copies, large print books, e-books, and talking books.

This exciting public fundraiser will feature a silent auction, a live auction, hors d’oeuvres, wine, live music, dancing, prizes, and much more! Kerri Miller from Minnesota Public Radio will emcee the program. All proceeds benefit the libraries.

Registration is now open! For fast, simple online registration click the button below, then choose "Buy Tickets":

Ramsey County Library in Roseville, 2180 Hamline Avenue North on Gala night to receive your License to Party

Costumes or festive evening attire are encouraged but not required. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. Gala goers aiming for an "elegant espionage" feel can dress as secret agents from all kinds of authors' work - from Ludlum and Larsson to LeCarre. Femme fatales and daring women can be found in fiction such as Cathy East Dubowski's Mrs. Smith or nonfiction about the work of Julia Child, Josephine Baker, Mata Hari and Marlene Dietrich. For a lighter twist, think Austin Powers, Harriet the Spy or even Boris and Natasha of cartoon fame. Costumes can be as simple as wearing a trenchcoat, sunglasses and a hat. The genre is so rich with heroes and villains we can't wait to see what you come up with!
